Edward Artemiev: Review:
Edward Artemiev: “Territory of Love. Music from Nikita Mikhalkov’s Films. The Collection Edition” (Electroshock Records 2005, ELCD 047/048)
44 tracks. Total time - 138:33.

The CD at hand features the music of Nikita Mikhalkov’s films, and is a very generous offering. (Over 120 films bear Edward’s musical handwriting and he has received the “Golden Eagle” award of the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia for the “Best Original Score” for the movie “12”.) Edward Artemiev, who composed the music for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, is one of Russia’s most popular composers and is one of the most significant composers of film music worldwide. He has set more than 140 screen and television films - mostly Russian - to music. Artemiev says his music was influenced by “Pink Floyd” and D. Schostakovich.
