ARTEMIY ARTEMIEV
 

Artemiy Artemiev is Russian composer who works in the stile of electronic, electroacoustic & experimental music. He was born on the 13th of January, 1966 in the family of well-known Russian composer of electronic music Edward Artemiev.

His profession is closely connected with film-, theater- & TV-industry. From the period of 15 years (1988-2003) he composed music for more than 50 Russian feature & 5 documentary films, 3 theater plays, 2 soap-box operas, a radio play & a lot of TV-programs. He began his career as a keyboardist in various Moscow rock groups but in 1987 he quit rock music & began experimenting with sound, synthesizers, samplers & computers.

In 1997 he became a member of Russian Association of Electroacoustic music.

Since 1996 he produces TV-radio program "Electroshock" devoted to electronic, electroacoustic, experimental & avant-garde music. Also in 1996 along with his friend film-director & producer Vladimir Krupnitskiy he founded recording label "Electroshock Records". Together they produced following 44 CDs:

Artemiy Artemiev participated in Bourges Festival of Electroacoustic Music'97. (France, 30 May - 8 June'97) - track "Space Distortion" was performed on this event on the 7th of June'97;

Artemiy took part in series of concerts devoted to the 50th Anniversary of Electroacoustic Music "Metafonie" which were held in "Teatro Alla Scala" in Milan, Italy on the 20th of March'99. He was the first & the only Russian composer who participated in these events.

Also Artemiev's compositions were played in Aarhus, Denmark on the International Festival "Cinema for the Ear" (20 September'99) & in Bezanson Recital Hall, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA (4 November'97).

"Electroshock" propagandizes electronic, electroacoustic, experimental, contemporary & avant-garde music. We publish it on CD, review it in Russian magazine "Music Box" (where Artemiy is heading 2 pages review column "Monitor" & writing articles & interviews), make TV & radio programs & once in a month I'm reading lectures about the activity of composers experimenting in the genre of Electronic, Electroacoustic, Experimental & Avant-garde music (with presentation of the music itself).
